Yoga as a way home.
Yoga has always felt like more than the physical practice to me.
At it’s heart yoga is about stillness - yogas chitta vritti nirodha - the stilling of the fluctuations of the mind.
In a world that can feel busy, noisy and constantly moving, the practice of yoga gives us an opportunity to pause.
To step away for a while and turn our attention inward.
Asana, pranayama and meditation offer different pathways into that stillness. Through movement we become aware of the body, through the breath we begin to settle the nervous system and steady our attention, through meditation we drop into the space.
Over time, these practices become less about achieving a particular shape or state, and more about how we feel.
Like the rhythm of the waves or the steadiness of the earth, yoga reminds us to be present, breathe deeply, embrace change and move through life with intention.
You’re welcome here
Whether you’re stepping onto the mat for the first time or deepening your practice, my hope is that you feel welcomed exactly as you are.
